My little Miss Tantrum

Recently, I saw two videos on Youtube about toddlers throwing tantrum, and it amazed me how the tots looked on camera. Rachel throws tantrums too, but I didn't really think or remember how she looked like when she did that. So, here's something for me to remember her "early days" by ...

Enjoying Red Bali Seafood Restaurant

One of my regular dinner restaurants around my area is the Red Bali Seafood Restaurant (formerly Bali-Bali Seafood Restaurant). I like this place because they serve at least decent food in a comfortable and cooling outdoor setting. But don't worry about the weather - there's a mobile roof that works very well when it rains.

During a recent dinner there, my family had normal dishes - meaning mostly non-seafood. There were 4 of us, so we ordered kam heong kappa, sweet and sour chicken, sambal kang kong, and a new dish recommended by one of the new guys ... it's a Thai styled pork dish, slightly saltish (can't confirm if it's from salted duck's egg or just plain salt). I didn't take a picture of the sambal kang kong dish because almost half the plate of veg was gone before I could snap a shot. The kang kong was nicely fried, and the sambal was good! The bill came to about RM60 plus drinks, which I considered worthwhile.

kam heong kappa - delicious!

thai styled pork - pretty good, but I thought it would make a better snack than a dish

sweet and sour chicken - Rueben's favorite dish. Very tasty too

Mr. Pot Cafe at Gurney Drive

Last Sunday, I wanted to bring my parents to Kenribbean for set lunch because I heard it's cheap (RM10 nett)! Unfortunately, it wasn't opened. So, I was driving around the area feeling seriously hungry when I chanced upon Mr. Pot. There was a good crowd there, so the food should be okay right? Besides, I spotted a nice shady parking space right across the street ... so Mr. Pot it shall be.

Environment-wise, it was relaxing and casual. But I could see that this place mostly caters to a more ... how to put this ... "upper class" crowd. When I saw the menu and its prices, I got the confirmation. Yup. My dad had normal fried rice (RM7), My mom and I had set - food + drinks. Hers was nasi lemak + cucumber and mint juice (RM13.80). I had fried beef koay teow + red dragon fruit juice (RM14). Taste-wise, edible but not great. The bill came up to RM40! Yup, it's definately for "upper class" crowd.

The environment - sidewalk cafe style

Dragonfruit juice - nice, but predictable

Cucumber and mint juice - this is interesting. It will be nicer if the mint is "younger"

Fried rice - very good. The price is a setback, though

Fried beef koay teow - why did I order this again?

Nasi lemak - not bad, but again, not worth the price

Rachel giving her knowing look that says "suckers!"

I might go there again ... if there aren't any other cafes open in that area, and I'm dying of starvation.
