Dear everyone,
Hi *wave wave* ... I'm 20 months old now and I'm enjoying my life being pampered by my family. The ones that I see everyday are Ma Ma, Da Da, Por Por and Gong Gong, but I also know the names of my other close family members. Let me show you how clever I am:
Yeh Yeh (grandpa) ... An Ma (grandma) ... Jane (Jane) ... Roh (Ross) ... Yara (Sarah) ... Mike (Mike) ... Ewik (Eric) ... A Ni (Yanni) ... Ee Ee (Ee Ee) ... Tai Ma (Tai Mah) ... Ok Kung (Sok Kung) ... Ok Por (Sok Por) ... Ee Pu (Ee Poh) ... Tai Por (Tai Por) ... Ku Kong (Ku Kong) ... Oo Jin (Eugene)
Clever! *clap hands* I'd say these names almost every night during my bedtime, and Ma Ma would tell me they are all sleeping. She'd give the same answer when I asked about my favorite cartoon friends. Oh, oh! I have my favorite shows on the Playhouse Disney Channel (and the only channel Ma Ma let's me watch, besides the occasional shows on Animal Planet). Pocoyo ranks no.1 and it's the only show that can make me sit still for 1/2 hours. No.2 is Jojo's Circus, and I especially enjoy the "Feeling good with Jojo" - some simple exercises for the body. No.3 is a current favorite (it used to be Little Einsteins, but the timing for the show changed - I may also change my mind about this later) and it's Bob the Builder. I love the blue cat in the show. There are other shows, but I only like the theme songs e.g. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Noddy, Barney, My Friends Tigger and Pooh, Johnny and the Sprites (now this used to be my top favorite - Ma Ma and Por Por couldn't understand why). Every night, I'd ask about Ee Or (Eeyore), Poo Bear (Pooh), Di Jer (Tigger), Ba Bit (Rabbit), Pi Git (Piglet), the Mickey gang ...
Another sign of me growing up well is I'm a copycat now. I love imitating whatever the 'big' people are doing. I usually get to sit on my special car seat in front when Ma Ma drives, so I can see how skillful she is in the car. Therefore my favorite kiddie ride in the shopping malls are - you guessed it - cars! And I take on the steering wheel with a level of professionalism that's beyond my age. The style, the maneuvering ... woo!
If you had read Ma Ma's post on our Genting trip, you'd know another favorite activity of mine - talking on the phone. My vocabulary may not be enough to carry on a proper conversation, but that doesn't stop me from "chatting" with whoever's on the other line. Once in a while, somewhere between my yabba.. yabba.. you can hear "Rahel" (that's me!) so that means I'm trying to tell you my day or something. I can also multi-task a.k.a. walking around my home "doing" other things while on the phone. Last weekend, it occured to Ma Ma that the 'big' people should have good behavior in case I copy the bad stuff as well. For example, a silly driver was driving in front of our car and did something silly, so Ma Ma said "stupid". The next second, I followed suit "tupit, tupit" Luckily, Ma Ma immediately stopped using that word, and I think I have now forgotten this word, too.
I love helping Por Por with the daily chores e.g. hanging clothes (I only want to play with the pole), ironing (I have my own mini iron and ironing board), wiping my toys (I'd wipe the toys, then the floor, then myself) but my favorite is folding clothes. I tried to follow the ways Por Por and Ma Ma did, but the nicely folded clothes would end up in a lump on the floor ... I still can't figure out this part.
I love it that I'm growing well!
(... continued from Part I)
Day 2 was theme park day, and Rachel got up early. Rueben was, of course, still asleep, so all of us (minus the sleepy bear) went for a morning trip to Skyway Station. I thought there'd be a Delifrance, but erm ... probably it was closed down due to poor business. That meant, no good prospects for breakfast. We had to wait till we finished visiting the Animal Kingdom and then rushed back up to find a McD's. Man, did we gobble up everything fast!
Rueben finally woke up and we went ahead to the theme park. I was all hyped up to try the rides with Rueben, who seemed to fit the description of a "suitable game partner" - above the min height requirement, doesn't have a weak heart. First ride, the Spinner. He was excited too, and while we were waiting for our turn, announced that we should play our money's worth, a.k.a. try all the rides. Right after our first ride, the same person declared that he never wanted to try anymore of the rides. Okay, I'd admit that Spinner is dizzifying, and highly insecure (I felt like my life was literally hanging by the tiny chains) ... but there are other fun rides too! Grrrrrrrrr ... so for the most of the day, we tried all those family rides (read: boring) e.g. the monorail, carousel, boating, dinosaurland, flying dumbo thing (forgot the name), pirate train (I didn't try, but my mom told me it was lame). I almost gave up on the exciting rides, when Rueben declared that he was alert enough to play the Flying Coaster with me. What, really??? I wasn't going to let go of this opportunity, even though I had my doubts. Most of all, I had not taken lunch, so that meant my stomach was not ready for such a thrill.
But I went ahead anyway, and boy, what a mistake it was! After that ride, all I wanted to do was to puke. But I couldn't, because there wasn't anything for me to puke. I tried it, and got a bad stomach cramp (a way for stomach to tell me, "hey, give it up, there's nothing in here"). So there you go, the end of thrill rides for me. But we weren't the sort who would let our money go to waste, so of course, more lame rides ... we even went for the ultimate lamest ride of all, the gondola. Soon, it was Rachel's bedtime again, and we went back to the hotel while my parents went back to their calling. And they came back at 5am again.
Day 3 was mostly casual, with the morning spent in walking around the garden and having breakfast at Old Town (it's right across our hotel). Then we packed up and headed to the Mushroom Farm for lunch. Rachel was really sleepy by then, amd dozed off as soon as we left the farm. We got caught in the heavy rain around Gohtong Jaya area, so we had to wait it out for about 30 mins before continuing our journey. I requested that we use the KL/Kuantan way back, which Rueben obliged. It was a longer route, but smoother and Rachel was fine. We reached Autocity in time for our dinner, followed by another 30 minutes or so back to our home sweet home.
Up, up and away ...!
Animal Kingdom ... one word: smelly
First ride of the day - the monorail
Spinning ride
Lovers' boat
Feeding the fishes
Zzz
S-l-o-w reindeer ride (but faster than the gondola)
The ultimate S-L-O-W ride
Rachel's favourite carousel rides. Her face looked like this because the rooster didn't move at all.
Much better
Again with Gong Gong and Por Por. There were a few more times. I stopped taking pics then.
A view of the Chin Swee temple
This is how my mom looked after returning to the room at 5am two nights in a row
At the Mushroom Farm, with the mushrooms
I read the news online today, and I'm already sick with the world. And that was before 8am. Two seperate cases of two fathers, one who raped his four year-old daughter a few times within a month, and another father who tried to have sex with his seven year-old daughter. Both FATHERS OF YOUNG DAUGHTERS. What the h*ll??? Is the world so sick now that the men don't feel anything about raping their own children? Are they so horny that they cannot relieve themselves and have to find a female human, no matter who or how old she is, to do it with him? I don't even want to know what's going on in their mind. To me, they are beyond human, worse than animals.I cannot even imagine how their wives are feeling ... "who is this man that I married?" You love someone and had a wonderful life together, and you have a child that you love, and the same man that you love does this to your child. And to think you were worried about strangers getting close to her.I remember a movie that I watched once, about a mother who took her teenage daughter for an illegal abortion. The daughter was 5 months pregnant. The unborn baby was aborted, but the daughter died due to excessive bleeding (it was not even done by a person who's had medical background). The next part, at the home of the woman, police were called because the woman actually slashed her husband ... because the father of the woman's dead unborn baby was her own husband. Seriously, the woman should've started by slashing his "down there" first. Then chop the thing into unrecognizable pieces and feed them to the dogs.
We had a fun family trip during the labor day weekend. Coincidentally, this was also Rachel's first holiday trip ever out of Penang. Understandably, I was real panicky about the packing and the itinerary. The easiest way to go to Genting Highlands from Penang is to take a bus-cum-hotel package offered by Sin-Pen. But I didn't want to choose this one because I wanted enough breaks in between to let Rachel stretch her legs and breathe fresh air. Also, the timing of the bus travel would mean changing her diaper inside the bus after her poo-poo session ... I wouldn't want to ruin other passengers' appetite.
So, I insisted that we drive there. "We" meant - Rueben, Rachel, my parents, and myself. All my friends and colleagues had a shock. "You mean your kancil???" No, no ... we borrowed Rueben's bro's Iswara. He's in UK, he wouldn't mind :P
We started our journey at 6.30am and reached the top of Genting Highlands around 1.30pm. We had about an hour's break at the Tapah R&R for breakfast and some running around for Rachel to release all her pent-up energy. We were pleasantly surprised by her very good travelling behavior. I was worried she might get fussy and refused to rest, but she fell back to sleep (along with my father) not long after we crossed the Penang Bridge. After the Tapah stop, she took her nen nen and took a nap till when we passed the exit to Genting Highlands. Her only discomfort was when we were driving up Batang Kali. The winding road caused the poor girl to get motion sickness and she vommitted a few times. So, we rested at Gohtong Jaya for a while to let her walk around a bit. She wasn't upset or fussy at all. We assured her that it's okay for her to vomit, and she also said "okay". Haha ...
After we reached Genting, we drove around for a hour or so because we couldn't find a parking spot! It was THAT packed. Finally Rueben dropped us off at the Theme Park Hotel (where we would be staying for the 2 nights) lobby with all our luggages and continued looking for a parking space. I went ahead to check in and requested the 9th floor (based on the customers' feedbacks on the Internet). We were fortunate that our room window faced the garden, which meant no screaming noises during the day. The opposite room's window faced the theme park itself.
After unpacking our stuff, Rueben proceeded to nap (poor guy) so the rest took the opportunity to check out the area a bit. We came back in time for Rachel's porridge to cook (erm, yes, we brought a mini slow cooker along). After packing her food, we went to First World Plaza's Hainan Kitchen to eat. Bad food, bad, bad, food ... ugh! I never wanted to go back there again. We went back to our hotel room soon after in time for Rachel's bedtime. While we prepared for bed, my parents prepared to be gods of gamblers. They actually came back at 5am!
(to be continued ...)
I'm getting lazy to update my blog. But there are many new happenings in my life that I really want to record down before I become forgetful (read: OLD). Rachel had her many firsts in experiencing life out of the comfort of home ... we took her to the Butterfly Farm, Penang Hill ... and even out of Penang ... her first trip to Genting Highlands! I know I have to do it. But I'm so lazy! *excuses, excuses*
