The day started pretty good. I made plans with my parents to go to the Pulau Tikus market for breakfast, so this meant waking up extra early to cook Rachel's lunch/dinner. No problem. I got everything ready by 6.45am, and decided to rest a little before taking my shower. "Little" became ... my parents arrived but Rachel and myself were still in dreamland. Panicked and rushing for time, I skipped shower and rushed to the market with only 1 food on my mind ... mee goreng! Alas, it wasn't opened for that day. This is the second time mee goreng dissed me (the first was, let's just say I drove all the way from Bayan Lepas to Fort Cornwallis for nothing).
The market itself was packed as usual, and we only managed to squeeze by. Mom decided to check out the feng shui stall, so dad, Rachel and I continued "window marketing". We stopped by this toy stall, and saw something that we've been wanting to get for Rachel: a second doodle board. Only that this one is more of lower quality and, come to think of it, really cacat. Till now I had no idea why I paid RM12 for this stupid thing.
Moving on, we went to Queensbay Mall for lunch and some shopping for our Genting trip. Note to self: NEVER ever go to eat at the Arena Food Court again. The food there are terrible! Some shopping and burning holes in my CC later, we decided to head back to let my poor Rachel rest. My mom asked me what my plans were for dinner, and here's where I took the wrong path. My heart was telling me to just get KFC and have a nice rest at home. But my tired and hence illogical brain said, let's have dinner together later at e-gate since I wanted to buy something from Guardian. And here was where a chain of very memorable events occur, in a short span of time, one after another.
Halfway through browsing, my mom announced that Rachel pooped, so I rushed through my shopping paid for my stuff and wanted to speed home. But mom said that it's no good to let the poop soaking, so the next best thing to do is to change her in the car. I laid out the stuff needed, when ... I couldn't find the wet wipes. In my panic state, I took out everything from the diaper bag, unaware that Rachel had taken something to play with. The next second, my mom screamed and rattled off something, but I did not pay attention till I looked at Rachel and realized that ... she had taken the milk powder container and opened the cap, spilling the powder onto her face and body. It was so funny, with Rachel's big eyes looking surprised and unsure, and I was laughing so hard. A few more minutes of rushing to clean the powder from her face, body, ourselves, my car, Rachel was wearing a new diaper and new set of clothes. We had to rush home and get her bathed ... after I pumped some petrol.
As I was filling the petrol (set it to auto mode), I was playing with Rachel through the car window, when ... the auto filler did not stop and continued pumping and spilling petrol. I pulled the trigger, closed the cap, rinsed the area with water and continued my journey home and thought about the funny chain of events, when ... I realized I forgot to put on my safety belt. With my "unluck" on that day, I wouldn't be surprised if a policeman was just waiting around the corner. Thankfully, I did not meet any.
So, there IS a silver lining behind the dark clouds after all ... and I 'm glad the day is over.
